Clair Domville

Clair Domville is our Peer to Peer Coordinator (Deputy Team Lead) and is a parent of 3 girls and due to her parent carer role has extensive lived experience in many areas through her SEND journey.

Clair reached out to the forum in 2018, whilst she was employed as a Cabin Manager for an airline for over 25 years travelling the world on long haul fleet, when she became overwhelmed with the needs of her family and attended many of the regular parent carer drop ins seeking support.  At this time Clair felt that she needed to remain closer to home due to her eldest daughters’ difficulties and worked on shorter flights so she could prioritise her needs over her career. 

Clair joined Trafford Parents Forum as an employee in May 2020 during the first lockdown of the pandemic and found that the role gave her a focus in difficult times, a sense of belonging and the opportunity to share her own experience and to support other parent carers on their own SEND journey. 

Together, Clair and Emily have successfully set up and developed our support service, Stronger Together Empowering Parents (STEP), which has proven to be an invaluable offering to our parent carer community.  This has included recruiting and training an amazing group of mentors, expert by experience parents and supporting the growth of the forum and other members of the team. 

Since joining the forum in 2020, Clair has developed her knowledge and experience further and has successfully achieved IPSEA Level 1 and 2 and undertaken training in post 16 mental health support, safeguarding and reducing parental conflict.  Where possible Clair attends learning opportunities available through various SEND organisations, whilst supporting parent carers and working with local services to improve support for our parent carers.
