Coreen Barker is our Finance and Funding Administrator and is a parent to 3 boys and a parent carer to her eldest son who was diagnosed in 2017 with ADHD and SPD and is now 13 years old.
Coreen discovered Trafford Parents Forum following her son’s diagnosis and she honestly believe the knowledge and power of other parents has been invaluable during her own SEND journey. She attended drop ins and courses run by the forum, including IPSEA legal training, which enabled her to understand better the complex processes and the rights of SEND children and young people.
Coreen has over 20 years working in finance roles and has been a CIMA associate since 2011 and she holds a CIMA practicing certificate. She has also previously undertaken voluntary roles including treasury for her son’s school PTA committee of which she was a board member and finance administrator for Marriage Care in Trafford.
Whilst working as a project accountant, an essential part of Coreen’s role was relationship management, monitoring and reporting to internal stakeholders on grant funded projects, ensuring compliance with rigorous audit requirements. Coreen was responsible for liaising with project leaders (both financial and non-financial) to ensure awareness of requirements/deadlines. Ensuring projects were completed on time and within budget.
Coreen has also completed her six sigma yellow belt in 2016.
