Geraldine English became a director in 2019 shortly after retiring from her role as Manager for Trafford SENDIASS and worked for Trafford SENDIASS for twenty years, where she was committed to helping parent carers who were unhappy with the support and information they were receiving from Trafford LA for their children and young people in early years, schools, or colleges.
She originally trained as a primary school teacher and has a degree in Education. She also has a post graduate diploma in Careers guidance and was a Careers advisor working with young people with SEND for many years before becoming the SENDIST manager.
She was a Governor at a primary school for 14 years and was the chair for five years.
She has a post graduate certificate in SEND mediation and used this skill to help to resolve disputes between the local authority and parents concerning SEN(D) concerns
She remains passionate about supporting families who have children with SEND and continues to so by volunteering as a non-executive director, bringing her wealth of knowledge and experience in SEND locally across Trafford.
Geraldine also works part time for the SENDIST Tribunal as a specialist member, where she is part of a panel who hears appeals from families who are unhappy with the contents of their Educational, Health and Care Plans. However, this does not include appeals from Trafford parent carers due to her role in the forum.
